Lady Gaga Will Launch a Social Network for Celebrities

Following her offensive but number-one Born This Way album, Lady Gaga plans to launch a social network for celebrities called Backplane. Google Chairman Eric Schmidt led the fund-raising for Lady Gaga's Backplane through his Tomorrow Ventures firm. Social-media star Lady Gaga is "aware of the power of technology," an analyst said. Backplane has raised more than $1 million in venture funding led by Tomorrow Ventures, the venture firm founded by Eric Schmidt, Google's executive chairman. The Times said Lady Gaga owns 20 percent of the yet-to-be-launched site.
